Francois Truffaut directs and stars in this witty homage to the movie business starring Valentina Cortese, Jean-Pierre Leaud, Jacqueline Bisset and Nathalie Baye. Truffaut plays Ferrand, a director making a melodrama called ‘Meet Pamela’, who faces many obstacles as he tries to get his picture off the ground. As well as having to deal with the diva-ish Severine (Cortese) who can’t remember her lines, Ferrand must also contend with his flighty leading man Alphonse (Leaud), the emotionally fragile Brit Julie Baker (Bisset), and a most uncooperative feline extra.
