Walter Hill directs this revisionist Western which tells the story of Apache chief Geronimo (Wes Studi) after his homeland is overrun by white settlers. Betrayed by General George Crook (Gene Hackman), Geronimo gathers a small group of warriors and together they leave their reservation and head out on a war party. The US Army soon learns of the problem and sends a group of soldiers, led by Lieutenant Charles Gatewood (Jason Patric), to recapture the renegade chief.
